THIS weekend marks the end of Enterprise Week 2007, and organisers are already hailing it as the biggest and best to date.
Organised by Make Your Mark, this year’s Enterprise Week has been running from November 12 and finishes on Sunday, November 18.
The aim of the annual event is to inspire young people in their teens and twenties, to get them thinking outside the box and consider setting up their own business on Merseyside.
During the week businesses across Merseyside are asked to hold an event or simply attend one of those already taking place to help support the young entrepreneurs of the future.
Just some of the events which took place this week include:
Make Your Mark at Parr Street – in conjunction with Parr Street Studios, Agent Marketing, JMU and Business Link – Parr Street opened its doors for a day of free advice for all
‘What business do I want when I grow up?’, organised by Hopscotch Nursery in the city centre
Eat Art event, organised by Dot Art at the Print Hotel
Make Your Mark in Music at 3345, organised by Another Late Night
Make Your Mark Challenge – Europe’s biggest online enterprise challenge involving schools, universities and businesses across Merseyside and the UK
Make Your Mark with a Tonne – in conjunction with Lime Pictures, three local schools were awarded £100 to help them set up their own mini enterprises
In all more than 150 events have been taking place to mark the week.
Sarah Bevan Fischer, campaign leader for Make Your Mark in Liverpool, said: “There is real talent here in Liverpool, and this is evident by the number of new and exciting businesses that are being established right here in the city.
“Enterprise Week is about bringing existing businesses together with budding entrepreneurs, inspiring and helping them to identify their skills and using these to pave a real future for themselves and for the city.”
